Saturday Author Spotlight

Hey there folks!

I love our Saturday Author Spotlights and today I am interviewing E.W. Barnes; who like me can’t stick to one genre (plus let’s get real it’s boring! Especially with so many new worlds to explore. Let’s find out more about E.W! Time to get this interview started.

What inspired you to start writing?

After years of writing non-fiction, I wanted to try my hand at fiction.

When did you decide that you wanted to publish your first story?

When I fell into a world that had many stories to be told, so I started at the beginning.

Describe your writing space

Sit-stand desk, white board for writing notes, multiple calendars, bookcases, and a comfy couch.

How do you do research for your books?

I use both the internet and paper books.

What motivates you to keep writing?

Love of the process.

Writing can be emotionally draining and sometimes stressful- particularly when stepping into the publishing realm of things. Any tips to share for the aspiring writers out there?

Take it one step at a time, take it one day at a time, and take a step back now and then to see how far you’ve come.

Tell me about the books you write.

I’m writing a time-travel adventure series – it starts with a three-novel arc centered on one character (Sharon Gorse), which will be followed by at least three addition novels in the same universe (one that highlights two supporting characters in their early days; one that tells the story of the discovery of time travel in the universe; and one that follows another supporting character on adventures into the future). It’s an action adventure series with very little romance, though there is a touch of romance because human beings.

How many books have you written so far? Are you in any anthologies? Which book has been your favorite to write? If you have a one that is. 🙂

From the three-novel arc, two are published and the third is almost ready for pre-order; the others are in early plotting stages.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? Why are they your favorite? Are they the main character? Tell us about them.

My favorite character is named Jonas. He’s a supporting character from the second novel in the series, and I loved him so much I developed ways to keep him in the universe

Tell us about your latest writing project

Finishing up the third in the three-story arc, and then starting on the early days story.

Let’s get to know a bit more about you. What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Read, of course; garden; relax into favorite sci fi tv shows.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Only slightly awkward.

If it were possible to have your favorite season all year long what season would it be?

Fall.

Why did you chose that particular season?

The trees are lovely; the temperatures are pleasant, and my allergies decrease.

What songs/ music are on your playlist?

Depends on the day – anywhere from epic music like Thomas Bergersen, Adrian Von Ziegler, Spic Soul Factory, etc.; to epic theme music (Avengers, Dr. Strange, Doctor Who, The Martian); to sultry jazz (Coltrane, Miles Davis, jazz trio pieces, and the like). Generally music without lyrics.

What is your favorite food?

Pizza.

Who is your favorite author and why?

Oh, this is too hard to answer – Frank Herbert, if I’m forced to only list one.

What are you reading right now?

My annual autumnal re-read of the Harry Potter series.

What is one thing your readers don’t know about you?

Dr. Strange is my favorite Avenger – he has the best character arc, in my opinion.

Where can readers find out more about you and your books? www.A1000Years.comit’s all there.

Thank you for joining me on my blog today. Is there anything else you’d like to say before we head on out?

This has been fun – thank you very much!

And thank you E.W For taking the time to stop by today.

So tell me readers and writers? Do you like time travel books? I always find them fascinating and I love reading new and interesting takes on the concept what about you?.
